Gugu Mbatha-Raw confesses that she isn't much of a Marvel nerd and that's okay.

Loki star Gugu Mbatha-Raw confesses that she isn’t much of an MCU nerd.

Tom Hiddelston’s Loki series has built an amazing cast that includes Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. While their roles have yet to be revealed, it’s assumed that they’re playing major Marvel characters. Some actors cast in comic book roles aren’t really fans of the source material until after they get the part and it looks like the same can be said about Mbatha-Raw.

In a recent interview with Variety, Mbatha-Raw revealed that she isn’t major MCU nerd. You can check out what the Loki actress had to say below.

“I can’t confess to being a major MCU nerd, obviously, it’s a big part of our culture, so I had a huge awareness of it and it’s funny because I actually went to drama school at the same time as Tom Hiddleston. Ten years ago when I first came out here to do a TV pilot, ‘Under Covers,’ he was shooting the first ‘Thor’ at the same time. I remember him telling me about this experience of this new movie that he was doing.”

Not much is currently known about Loki, but it is rumored to feature the Time Variance Authority, Lady Loki and some form of time travel. Marvel Studios’ upcoming slate of films includes Black WidowThe EternalsShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder. In addition to the aforementioned feature films, Marvel Studios is developing several shows for Disney Plus, including The Falcon and the Winter SoldierWandaVisionWhat If…?, HawkeyeMs. MarvelMoon Knight, and She-Hulk.

Here is the official synopsis for Marvel Studios’ Loki:
