Amazon’s ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Cast Officially Announced

Amazon has announced the cast for their upcoming Lord of the Rings television series.

At the TCAs, Amazon decided to announced some of the first major details regarding their Lord of the Rings series. Production on the Lord of the Rings series will begin next month and will have a cast that largely consists of unknown actors.

The upcoming series will star Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman. The best know actor is its lead, Robert Aramyo, who played a young Ned Stark in Game of Thrones. Will Poulter was originally set to play the lead, but recently dropped out of the project. Lord of the Rings showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay had this to say about the Amazon series’ cast in a statement:

“After undertaking an extensive global search, we are delighted finally to reveal the first group of brilliant performers who will take part in Amazon’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ series. These exceptionally talented women and men are more than just our actors: they are the newest members of an ever-expanding creative family that is now working tirelessly to bring Middle-earth to life anew for fans and audiences worldwide.”

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series is being developed by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who will lead a writer’s room that includes Game of Thrones alum Bryan Cogman. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom director J. A. Bayona is set to direct multiple episodes of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series.

Full details on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series are currently unknown, though it is reported to be before the events of Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring during the Second Age of Middle-Earth. The Lord of the Rings series is produced by Amazon Studios in cooperation with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema.

Amazon has not announced a released date for the Lord of the Rings series.
