Lynda Carter Will Make Appearance On ‘Wonder Woman Day’

It’s the 75th anniversary of Wonder Woman this year, and the United Nations are honouring the character with ‘Wonder Woman Day‘ on October the 21st. Lynda Carter will be making an appearance in New York on the day.

Carter played the eponymous heroine in the 1970’s, and became internationally recognised as the Amazonian ever since. Whilst we had Gal Gadot in the role in ‘Batman v Superman‘ earlier this year, for many Lynda Carter will always be their Wonder Woman. When asked about honouring the character, Lynda Carter had a lot to say about Diana Prince being role model for women across the world.

Wonder Woman taught women to be who you are. I have received the greatest letters from people telling me what an inspiration she was to them because she represents an inner strength every woman has. TV executives didn’t think there was a market for a female holding a show like Wonder Woman. Women were buying all their products, yet men dominated the shows. To honor Wonder Woman and women all over the world is just amazing.”

75 years is a pretty big mile stone for the heroine to surpass, and given the character’s ever growing popularity – she’s definitely here to stay. Lynda Carter will next be appearing on Supergirl as the President of the United States.
