In response to reports on Paramount Pictures canceling David Fincher’s World War Z sequel, Fandango’s Erik Davis posted a Tweet revealing that he’s heard “another sequel” is “beginning to rev its engines” and included a screenshot of the first shot in Mad Max: Fury Road. Davis noted that he does not have any more details and emphasized that it is possible the project may never happen.
George Miller previously revealed he developed a trilogy worth of material while writing Fury Road, but doubts about the chances of seeing a sequel grew when Miller’s production company sued Warner Bros. over the Fury Road earnings.
Here is the official synopsis for Mad Max: Fury Road:
Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
