‘Game Of Thrones’: Maisie Williams On The Highs & Lows Of Season 7

Arya Stark has been through a lot but Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams warned there would be both high and low points ahead in season 7.

Production on the seventh and penultimate season of HBO’s mega-hit Game of Thrones continues abreast in Europe as it edges closer to wrapping February. As the series fond of saying, when playing the game of thrones, you win or you die; there is no middle ground. It’s a lesson Maisie Williams’ Arya Stark learned the hard way over the last six years of murder, mayhem, and aimless wandering.

Williams, whose Arya finally made it back to Westeros in the season 6 finale after training to become a face-changing assassin across the Narrow Sea, spoke with ITV’s This Morning about Arya’s future in season 7. Check out the interview and quotes below.

The actress was obviously unable to reveal the pertinent season 7 details fans are craving but spoke generally about Arya’s journey this year, as well as her real life “big sister” friendship with Sophie Turner aka her on-screen big sister Sansa Stark, whom Arya hasn’t seen since season 1.

“This year it really kind of heats up. Particularly for Arya, there’s some really high points… there’s some really low points, too.”

Williams said her relationship to Turner was comforting as both were unknowns with no prior acting experience before rocketing to stardom on one of the world’s most popular TV series. In another parallel, both joined the X-Men franchise, Turner as a young Jean Grey in last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse while Williams is poised to play Wolfsbane in Josh Boone’s X-Men: The New Mutants, due to begin filming this spring after Thrones completes filming.

“It’s been really wonderful to have someone else who is my own age, and who also was just plucked out of seemingly normal life with no sort of acting background. It’s nice to sort of have her going through this industry… someone else who completely gets it. She’s like my big sister…”

Game of Thrones season 7 will premiere sometime this summer. Who knows, we might even get that mythical sixth book out of author George R.R. Martin this year.
