Game of Thrones is gearing up for season 7. Production may have been pushed back, but the performers have started getting scripts, which means filming is right around the corner. Yesterday, actress Maisie Williams (aka a girl named Arya Stark) tweeted five succinct tweets of her reaction upon reading the seven scripts for the shortened, penultimate season of the acclaimed fantasy drama. Presented without comment:
Game of Thrones is getting a late production start this year to best capture winter conditions now that winter is no longer coming to Westeros, it’s come. That means we won’t see season 7 until next summer, later than the usual spring start. However, with production so close, we have new rumors and casting calls to tide us over. One rumor: will we see Rhaegar Targaryen next season? Rhaegar was Dany’s ill-fated brother, whose affair with Ned Stark’s sister Lyanna brought down the Targaryen dynasty and produced a bastard, who we discovered in the season 6 finale was Jon Snow, newly-crowned King in the North. Bran Stark has already used his Three-Eyed Raven powers to see a young Ned witness Jon’s birth. Will he use them to spy on Jon’s true father?
In the meantime, there is also The Winds of Winter to look forward to, the long-awaited sixth volume in author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, upon which the series is based and has moved on from. While season 6 was the first season to move past the books, season 7 will be the first to contain entirely new material for both book readers and show watchers. Doesn’t it feel good to finally be on the same page?
