Manu Bennett Supports Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke

Manu Bennett has played Deathstroke on the DC television show Arrow but now the actor speaks on Joe Manganiello taking the character to the big screen

Manu Bennett has had a good run portraying Deathstroke on the DC television show Arrow. Now, the actor speaks on Joe Manganiello taking the character to the big screen.

Speaking at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest San Jose, Manu Bennett explained he has a great relationship with Manganiello and was excited to hear that he got the role, which fans first saw in the post-credits scene in Justice League:

“To be honest, when he was announced to do this role, I was very very happy for him. Of course, I was a little bit disappointed that I wouldn’t get to do such a wonderful opportunity of getting onto that big screen with Deathstroke. But listen, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be a TV actor, and to spend the time it takes to cook a character. And sometimes, I don’t think you get that chance when you’re on the big screen. But as for Joe’s ability to get up there and do this character, I’m behind him, I hope, as much as everybody else is behind him.”

With Manu Bennett happy for Manganiello taking the character to new heights, he also noted that he supports him in a very personal way:

“We have a word in Maori, called “tatoko”, which means to give somebody your best feeling of support. And I give Joe my best feeling of support, and I hope he gets up there and does a fucking great job.”

It is good to see that both men who portray Deathstroke on television and on film support one another and want to see the best adaptation possible. It really is a win-win for fans of the character.

Arrow airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Deathstroke actors Manu Bennett and Joe Manganiello.
