Margot Robbie made her debut as the iconic DC character Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad and will make her long-awaited return in the girl-gang spin-off flick for which she is also producing. The new film is set to feature Margot Robbie in several new costumes which have already been revealed thanks to previous set photos.
But the latest set photos feature Margot Robbie sporting a brand new fun, and very fitting blazer on the set of a jewelry store. Full details on the Birds of Prey plot are currently unknown, but the film is rumored to feature Cassandra Cain coming into possession of a diamond belonging to Gotham kingpin Black Mask. DC Comics’ Birds of Prey are an international crimefighting team featuring heroines such as Oracle (Barbara Gordon), Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) and the Huntress (Helena Bertinelli). The comic book teams current lineup consists of Black Canary, Huntress, and Lady Blackhawk, along with Hawk and Dove.
The film will feature the female superhero team teaming up to protect Cassandra Cain after she comes across a diamond which belongs to Gotham crime lord Black Mask. Cassandra Cain is the daughter of David Cain and Lady Shiva, raised to become one of the world’s greatest assassins before meeting Bruce Wayne and taking up the mantle of Batgirl in the comics.
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
