Margot Robbie has taken home a win at the Critics Choice Awards for her performance as Harley Quinn in Warner Bros. and DC's Suicide Squad.
The Critics Choice Awards are a bit more versatile when it comes to awards. Unlike the Oscars, the critics have categories honoring actors’ performances in action movies and other categories besides drama. The awards are hosted every year by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA). The BFCA is the largest organization of film critics across the United States.
Suicide Squad didn’t mark the last time we’ll be seeing of Margot Robbie’s version of Harley Quinn. A solo film is currently in development. The film is also set to feature the Birds of Prey, which is exciting because the only other live-action version of them we’ve ever seen was on the short-lived Birds of Prey TV series years ago.
Although Suicide Squad received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, it’s safe to say that of all the characters, Harley Quinn was one of the best received. She played insane and lethal in a generally balanced performance and largely overshadowed the Jared Leto’s Joker.
