Captain America: Civil War introduced audiences to a new take on Aunt May, played by My Cousin Vinny and The Wrestler star Marisa Tomei. The actress then reprised her role for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Homecoming and its follow-up Far From Home, and is now set to return as Peter Parker’s aunt and guardian for the wall-crawler’s third cinematic solo outing.
While doing the press rounds for her latest project The King of Staten Island, Marisa Tomei spoke with ScreenRant and revealed her hopes for Aunt May’s arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here’s what Tomei told the site about what she wants to see from her character in Spider-Man 3:
“Well, I’ve had her – [director] Jon Watts and I always talked about her being a community organizer. And hopefully that track will expand and be part of this one, as well.”
The third Spider-Man film with Tom Holland will be co-produced by Marvel Studios and Sony. The film was originally scheduled to be released in theaters on July 16, 2021, but was pushed back to November 5, 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May were last seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.
