Mark Hamill Disappointed Darth Maul Didn't Have Bigger Role In 'Star Wars' Prequels. 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' will be released on December 15, 2017.

Star Wars veteran actor Mark Hamill was on hand at Disney’s D23 Expo this past weekend. Hamill was there to hype the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi and shared the stage with fellow actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

While there, Hamill spoke to Polygon and pointed out that he was disappointed that the character of Darth Maul wasn’t in all three of the Star Wars prequel films.

“Darth Maul was just the coolest looking. I couldn’t believe they disposed of him so quickly. I thought he would last through all three movies!”

Hamill will next be seen in The Last Jedi where his performance was praised by Disney’s CEO. While at D23, Hamill also joked that a Luke Skywalker prequel movie would never work.

Written and directed by Johnson, The Last Jedi’s cast includes Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Armitage Hux, Benicio Del Toro as “DJ”, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Jimmy Vee as R2-D2.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to be released in theaters on December 15, 2017.
