‘Star Wars’: Mark Hamill Doesn’t Want To Believe That Luke Skywalker Died

Mark Hamill, the beloved actor who played Luke Skywalker in the 'Star Wars' saga, doesn't want to believe that his character died in 'The Last Jedi'

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth entry into the Skywalker Saga, will forever be known as the movie that changed everything. The film, which averted expectations and went into completely different directions, is vocally loved and disliked by the Star Wars fandom. Those who love it praise the film’s bold and unpredictable choices, those who dislike it believe that among other things, Luke Skywalker wasn’t given the welcome he deserved. The Last Jedi was Mark Hamill’s first speaking role as Luke Skywalker since 1983’s Return Of The Jedi, and it may also possibly be his last, as the fan favorite character sacrificed himself to save the Resistance at the end of the film.

Many Star Wars fans have not been able to accept Luke’s fate, and it seems Hamill himself is still grappling with that. In an interview with BBC the actor spoke of his character’s fate, and infused his signature wit with his answer.

“I refuse to believe that he’s gone. My theory is he just teleported to somewhere else and left his robe behind. He teleported to a nudist colony, that’s what I’m hoping.”

While Luke Skywalker is definitely not in a nudist colony, it will be interesting to see if he returns from the nether realm of the force like his masters before him in Episode IX. Only time will tell if Star Wars: The Last Jedi was the last we saw of Luke Skywalker.

What did you think of The Last Jedi? Do you think Luke Skywalker will return in Episode IX? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
