After clarifying his negative earlier comments regarding Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Mark Hamill has stated that Disney has never told him what to say.
Recently, however, Mark Hamill has had a sudden change of heart – clarifying his earlier comments by stating that they were pre-mature and misconstrued. Many came to the conclusion that Disney and Lucasfilm told him to backtrack on his comments, seeing as how they might be damaging the brand and future films.
Mark Hamill himself clarified that nobody at Disney or Lucasfilm has ever told him what to say in a Tweet:

While some may have thought his clarification was awkward and unwarranted, it truly has put fans at ease who thought that Disney was making Hamill clarify his thoughts.
