Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that the company has discussed bringing Captain Britain to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“We have discussed it. There are a lot of actors that come in and ask about that part, so we’ll have to see.”
Captain Britain, or Brian Braddock, debuted in 1976 and has more mystical origins than your average super soldier. Merlyn and his daughter, Roma, granted Braddock his powers after he was in a serious motorcycle accident. The character has served both Great Britain and the Avengers over the years, taking the spotlight from time to time in runs like Secret Avengers.
The character has previously made brief appearances in the animated shows The Super Hero Squad Show and Marvel Anime: X-Men, and has also appeared in video games such as LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.
With the current slate of Marvel films jam-packed with heroes and ongoing storylines, it’s probable we won’t see Captain Britain suit up anytime soon, but as Feige says, ” … we’ll have to see.”
