Disney CEO On 20th Century Fox’s Marvel Characters Joining The MCU

In a recent interview, Disney CEO briefly discussed the possibilities of 20th Century Fox’s Marvel characters finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As if the world of the MCU couldn’t grow any larger, it’s about to get quite a few new residents in the form of Marvel’s first family and one of Marvel’s most iconic teams ever. The Disney/Fox merger had some people nervous and others excited, with much of the excitement coming from fans who have been waiting to see the X-Men and the Fantastic Four join the heroes of the MCU on the big screen.

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in which he opened up, though briefly, about what the future could hold for the MCU in regards to the merging of the Fox-owned characters. When Iger was asked if Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would be overseeing the Fox/Marvel character merger, this is what he had to say.

“I think it only makes sense. I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.”

Iger was then asked about whether or not fans should expect to see Deadpool join the Avengers. This is what Iger had to say about the Merc with the Mouth, with his own successful franchise, teaming up with Earth’s mightiest heroes.

“Kevin’s got a lot of ideas. I’m not suggesting that’s one of them. But who knows?”

Now that some of Marvel’s most iconic heroes are finally about to be at one studio, at home at the MCU, it seems that the possibilities are endless for what team-ups they can do and iconic stories they can adapt. It’s no surprise that Iger is being trepidatious about what he reveals regarding the upcoming phases of the MCU, which have been kept pretty heavily shrouded in mystery.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding the MCU as more information becomes available. Which Fox-owned Marvel characters are you most excited to finally see join the MCU? Who would you like to see play them? Let us know in the comments below!
