‘Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series’ Plot Revealed

It’s been a bit over a month since Telltale Games officially confirmed that an episodic series based on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is in fact in the works, but the first details about it have now emerged thanks to a listing on GameStop.

The description for the series — which is also up on Marvel’s website, meaning that it’s real — reveals that the story will revolve around the Guardians discovering an “artifact of unspeakable power,” which is also wanted by a mysterious female villain. See it below.

“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series’ delivers a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands. From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience.”

What’s interesting is that the description seems to confirm that Star-Lord will be the only playable character, so that’s a bit disappointing, to say the least. Telltale has a great track record, though, so I’m sure that the series will still deliver.

Telltale will debut the first episode later this year. A more exact release date will be announced at some point (probably around the time Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters), with the episode available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and mobile devices.
