Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has commented on the passing of legendary comic book creator Stan Lee.

Stan Lee passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on early Monday after being taken there from his home in Hollywood Hills. He was 95. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige shared his reaction to the news this morning with the following post on this personal Twitter account.

Over the last few years, Stan Lee had suffered several illnesses, including pneumonia and vision issues. The Marvel Icon’s death was confirmed by his daughter, J.C. Lee. Stan Lee’s wife of 69 years, Joan, died in July 2017.

In 1961, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby launched Marvel as it is known today with The Fantastic Four and went on to create some of the most beloved heroes and villains in comic book history, including Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers. Today, Lee’s Marvel characters are the subjects of some of the most successful and acclaimed comic books films, most of which feature cameo appearances by the legend himself.
