Marvel’s Kevin Feige Cheers ‘Wonder Woman’s Success

Marvel and DC may be rivals and many fans continue to champion one company over the other, but when you’ve got a Marvel Studios’ exec cheering on a DC film’s success, you know it’s a good time to be a superhero fan.

While speaking with Yahoo Movies, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige cheered on Wonder Woman and its success.

“The success of Wonder Woman is awesome, and just puts to rest the fallacy that people don’t want to see female superheroes,” adding, “I’ve always been a fan of the character, and I thought what they did with the film was perfect.”

With the film having already eclipsed Man of Steel‘s take and on pace to out-sell Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, there’s a lot to be said for the film that made Patty Jenkins the highest-grossing female director of a live-action movie. But what does Wonder Woman‘s success really mean for the future, especially where Marvel is concerned? Feige has an idea.

“[Wonder Woman‘s success] sets up very nicely not only for Captain Marvel, but also a lot of things we haven’t announced yet and are planning going forward.”

With a tease like that, Marvel’s future line-up could be incredibly exciting. Maybe we’ll finally get that Black Widow solo movie we’ve all been clamoring for, or maybe we’ll see some surprise announcements after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 stir things up.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui.

Wonder Woman is playing in theaters now.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, written by Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve, and starring Brie Larson, Captain Marvel is slated for a March 8, 2019, release.
