Marvel Legends Toy May Reveal Jude Law’s True ‘Captain Marvel’ Role

Jude Law’s role in the upcoming film has been something of a mystery. Originally the character was speculated to be the character Mar-Vell but Marvel Studios itself has been rather coy about confirming this. In the comics, the character was the original Captain Marvel who eventually died from cancer before passing the mantle to Carol Danvers. But, from the look of things, Marvel Studios may have another role for the character in mind.

An image recently surfaced showing a Marvel Legends action figure with a character who is clearly a member of the Starforce group. The face of the character is not revealed but the name of the character is. The name on the box it reveals that the character is none other then Yon Rogg.

The full image with the box art can be seen below:

From the look of things, Marvel just may have a reoccurring role for Jude Law in mind.

The character was originally created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan in 1967. A member of the Kree military, the character was responsible for Carol Danvers getting her powers and had been a reoccurring foe of the character ever since. And if this latest theory is right, Captain Marvel may be facing a big betrayal at the hands of a character who appears to be one of her closest allies.

What do you all make of this new information? Would you like to see Jude Law as the film’s ultimate antagonist? Should they keep him as the original Mar-Vell? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Directed by Ann Boden & Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990’s “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
