Marvel TV Head Dodges Questions About MCU & Fox Connections

Now that the pending merger between The Walt Disney Company and 21st Century Fox has been approved, many are continuing to speculate as to when and how Marvel Studios plans to utilize Marvel characters from the X-Men and Fantastic Four within the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Obviously, the films come to mind but some are interested in connections to be found within the television series.

Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb recently spoke to EW about the status of the numerous Marvel television series – particularly the Netflix shows. Recently, surprising news came out that the Disney streaming service will be home to upcoming series featuring Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). With Marvel further expanding their television department, this has left fans wondering what type of impact this will have. Loeb answered coyly:

“Unfortunately, I’m going to have to give you one of Marvel’s famous answers for this: That’s classified.”

Loeb was also asked about the presence of Fox’s Marvel properties within the MCU and the connections that may or may not have already set in stone. The interviewer specifically brought up the fact that in Iron Fist season 2, Typhoid Mary (Alice Eve) name dropped “Baxter”, which refers to the Baxter Building of the Fantastic Four. Once again, Loeb played coy :

“[Laughs] I think we’ll have to go back to that magical answer: That’s classified.”

Only time will tell when we will see official crossover material with the current canon of the MCU and their versions of the X-Men and Fantastic Four when the Disney/Fox merger is finalized in 2019.

Do you think we will also see more connections to some of Fox’s Marvel properties in the MCU television series? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news regarding the future of the MCU and Fox.
