Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ Is Casting Microchip

In the closing moments of the season two finale of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil, we saw Frank Castle going back to his house and burning the whole place down, but before doing so, he retrieved a disc with the word “Micro” written on it. This was a tease for David Linus “Microchip” Lieberman, a character who has yet to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but has been mentioned in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the past.

As you probably already know, The Punisher is getting his own 13-part series, and it sounds like Microchip will be a part of it. According to MCU Exchange, Marvel and Netflix are currently looking for an actor to play the character, but that’s pretty much the only thing we know for now. In the comics, Microchip is an ally of Frank Castle, so it makes sense that we’ll be seeing him in the series.

During the summer TCA press tour, Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, mentioned that we shouldn’t expect to see The Punisher on the streaming service until at least 2018. However, Netflix’s mobile app recently added a landing page for the series, which has a tentative release date of 2017. Either way, we’ll probably know who will play Microchip in a few months. What do you guys think?
