‘The Defenders’: Marvel Releases Brand New Promos

Marvel has released a new batch of promos for the upcoming superhero team-up Netflix series The Defenders.

Plot details for The Defenders are still under wraps but the series will follow Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones Krysten Ritter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) as they put their resources together to take on a mysterious businesswoman named Alexandra, played by Sigourney Weaver. The biggest clue we have so far is that the threat the heroes face somehow revolves around the offices at Midland circle, which happens to be where Daredevil and Elektra (Elodie Yung) discovered the massive hole in the ground in season two of Daredevil.

The posters which were released on Twitter earlier tonight reveal the street level heroes of the Netflix corner of the MCU, each packed with the heroes own unique flavor over top a snippet of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” heard in both the SDCC teaser as well as the trailer. In addition to the solo promos for each hero, two other promos were released, one of which combines each of the solo promos together, as well as another that features The Defenders themselves united and ready to save New York.

The series will also see the return of many cast members from the Netflix corner of the MCU including Yung as Elektra, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Scott Glenn as Stick, and Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker. Here’s the official synopsis:

“Marvel’s The Defenders” follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.”

The Defenders hits Netflix August 18, 2017.
