WARNING: This post contains major spoilers for the Spider-Man PS4 game.
Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man on the PS4 featured one of the most profound stories of the web slinger, but Marvel originally wasn’t happy with the ending.
If you haven’t played Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS4, you might be missing out on one of the best stories of Peter Parker to date. Paired with amazing graphics and terrific gameplay, it was a huge hit among fans and sold millions of copies. One thing that blew audiences away was the ending. Again, the following contains spoilers for the game so tread lightly from here.
Doctor Octopus unleashes Devil’s Breath onto New York city and Peter has to make a choice: ise the serum to save Aunt May or to save the city. Aunt May reveals she’s known all along that Peter was Spider-Man, telling him that she’s proud and he should do the right thing before passing away.
While on The GameZone Podcast, Spider-Man voice actor Yuri Lowenthal revealed that Marvel didn’t want insomniac to kill Aunt May. After it had been in development for a while, Insomniac Games was given the okay to continue the story with that ending.
It’s interesting to think that Marvel was against the ending at first. If not this ending, what could have been the ending for this game? What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
