Marvel Studios’ Character Dictionary May Hint An Avenger Was A Mutant All Along

The Marvel Studios’ Visual Dictionary and Character Encyclopedia may have retconned one of the new Avengers’ origin stories and could have changed the direction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward.

An eagle-eyed Marvel fan on Reddit posted a segment from the Marvel Studios Visual Dictionary and Character Encyclopedia that may have retconned Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) origin story.

You can see the post by clicking on the image down below!

The text explains how Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) scepter with the mind stone intact could have actually “unlocked something latent inside of Wanda” which opens the door to Wanda (Olsen) actually being a mutant this whole time.

Marvel Studios was not able to use the word “mutant” because of the rights belonging formally to 20th Century Fox, but after the Disney-Fox merger, the MCU now has ownership of the X-Men and the word mutant.

If this is confirmed to be a retcon of the Scarlet Witch character, then Marvel Studios could use this going forward to explain the sudden emergence of mutants in the MCU following Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War and Tony’s snap in Avengers: Endgame.

What do you think about Marvel Studios possibly retconning the origins of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen)? What do you think this could this mean for the future of the MCU? Let us know in the comment section below!

You can see Wanda Maximoff (Olsen) make her return in Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers:Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame is now playing in theaters!
