Marvel Studios Stephen Broussard On The Possible Future Of One-Shot Program

I’m a big fan of physical media. I prefer to buy discs rather than downloading digital copies. There’s just something about slipping a disc into a player and going through all the extras that I love. But it’s always disappointing when discs feel like they are lacking in that department. While I don’t necessarily think that the Marvel Studios releases are lacking, there’s something that I have definitely been missing: One-Shots.

One-Shots were a series of in-universe shorts that were featured on the Blu-Ray release of Marvel Studios films beginning with the first Thor all the way up to Thor: The Dark World. The Trevor Slattery-centric All Hail The King, which was the final of the bunch, is arguably my favorite of.

I had the chance to speak with Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard, who worked on Iron Man 3 and the One-Shot semi-sequel All Hail The King, at an event promoting the release of Ant-Man And The Wasp. Broussard had the following to say when asked if there’s any chance that we could see the One-Shots returning in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Yeah. It’s always kind of percolating there. Nothing formal right now. We do love it and we always say that if there’s a great idea or a must tell story that motivates it more than anything else. I’d say that the One-Shot program still has a pulse as long as we’re here.”

Trevor Slattery wasn’t the only character we last saw in All Hail The King, the One-Shot also featured a cameo from Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer. I’m someone who is dying to see Justin Hammer make his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but considering the state it’s currently in, I had to ask Broussard if Hammer had survived the snap or not. I didn’t exactly get an answer.

“[Laughs] Oh man. If it didn’t happen on camera, I can neither confirm or deny.”

Fingers crossed our dear Justin Hammer is fine and will dance his way back onto the screen again soon. Would you like to see more One-Shots in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Ant-Man And The Wasp is now available digitally and will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on October 16th.
