Marvel Studios Boss Kevin Feige On Fan Calls To See Ironheart In The MCU

During an interview with BET, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige commented on the fan calls to see Ironheart join the MCU.

The climactic battle of Avengers: Endgame concluded with Iron Man sacrificing himself by using the Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos and his army. Now, fans have been left to wonder who, if anyone, will take up the Iron Man mantle following the hero’s death.

One of the more popular suggestions is to see Riri Williams, a.k.a. Ironheart, join the MCU in the future, a sentiment Robert Downey Jr. echoed during his appearance at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige commented on Robert Downey’s Ironheart comment, noting that he believes she is a great character while avoiding details on what the future holds for the MCU:

“I think it’s a great character, and it’s been fun to see how she evolves in the comics. I just saw that quote, too. But again, the future…”

In the Marvel comics, Riri Williams is a 15-year-old engineering student who builds a suit of armor similar to the Iron Man outfit using material she stole from campus. After hearing of her successful effort to prevent two inmates from escaping the New Mexico State Penitentiary, Tony Stark officially endorses Williams’ decision to become the superheroine Ironheart.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers:Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo,  Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame will be available on Digital HD starting July 30 followed by a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on August 13.
