Later this month, Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years will be hitting shelves and it seems like it will be the perfect collectible for any Marvel fan. Compiling together art and interviews from all chapters of the MCU, Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years can be pre-ordered here but there have been quotes from an interview with Marvel Co-President Luis D’Esposito revealed that give fans a closer look at the creative process behind forming these massive films for fans.
According to comicbook.com, there is a moment in an interview where D’Espositio addresses whether or not everything within the MCU is planned out. This is an interesting point because of films that have tried to take on that MCU structure and failed to do so, and even on the flip side, you have the Star Wars franchise in which some fans have found the lack of connectivity between films like The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi problematic. This is what D’Esposito had to say regarding the subject.
“It’s all planned out.”
Given the smooth structure of the MCU release schedule, it’s no surprise how far in advance these projects are planned. Not only are these things structured way ahead of time, but all of the different creatives behind the scenes of these massive films are constantly helping one another with their projects. This is what D’Esposito had to say about the creative forces behind the MCU and their willingness to collaborate.
“They’re all connected, and we all contribute to each others’ projects.”
Hopefully, other creative forces will be able to learn from this kind of creativity to naturally create a franchise instead of forcing it into one film, as most recently done by the infamous Universal Studios monster flick The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise. The Conjuring franchise has been able to create its own universe with much success and even M. Night Shyamalan has done that on a smaller scale with 2016’s Split and the upcoming Glass, so it’s certainly not impossible.
