Marvel Studios Rumored To Keep Making R-Rated Deadpool Solo Movies

A new rumor suggests that the Fox/Disney merger won’t cause Marvel Studios to make Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool PG-13.

Last year, it was announced that Disney planned to buy 20th Century Fox, which caused many comic book fans joy because that meant that characters like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four could appear in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Despite the exciting possibility, some fans were worried that would mean the end of R-rated Marvel Studios movies like Logan and Deadpool.

Thankfully, it seems that Kevin Feige might be giving Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool his R-rating back when he arrives at Marvel Studios after all. The rumor comes from We Got This Covered and it also suggests that Deadpool could possibly show up in PG-13 movies from Marvel Studios as well as the R-rated ones.

Last December, Deadpool 2 was re-edited into a PG-13 version titled Once Upon A Deadpool, in an effort to help raise money for charity. Although another installment of the franchise is not currently set for release this year, two more entries in the X-Men franchise are set to premiere in the coming months.

In June, the series that began with 2011’s X-Men: First Class comes to an end in Dark Phoenix. The X-Men horror movie The New Mutants is also set for release in August. The film was reported to be going under hefty reshoots and it was revealed recently that they haven’t even scheduled those reshoots yet.

Although The New Mutants is set for a release in August, there was recently reported to be promotions for the film sporting a new September release date. An official statement regarding a release date change has yet to be announced by the studio.
