During the Iron Fist panel at New York Comic-Con, Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb officially announced that Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Avatar) will play the main villain in Marvel’s upcoming 8-part Netflix series, The Defenders.
Details surrounding Weaver’s character are being kept under wraps, but we do know that the actress has been preparing for her role in the series, as she recently revealed that she has been watching some of Marvel’s previous projects:
“I have been watching, for whatever reason, some Marvel movies, and they cast really good actors.”
As previously reported, The Defenders will begin production within the next few weeks. The series will star Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Elden Henson, Scott Glenn, Eka Darville and Simone Missick.
