‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’ Is Best-Selling Superhero Game In 15 Years

The NPD Group recently put out their sales figures for the 2018 year in gaming and Marvel’s Spider-Man has stuck an impressive landing.

According to the NPD Group’s charts, Marvel’s Spider-Man capped as the sixth best-selling video game of last year. That is a pretty impressive number, to say the least. But there is more to this story than a simple ranking.

Via Twitter, the NPD Group’s own Mat Piscatella let it be known that Marvel’s Spider-Man finished as the best-selling superhero video game in nearly 15 years. Piscatella finished his tweet by congratulating developer Insomniac and publisher Sony for their achievement:

“Marvel’s Spider-Man finished as the best performing Superhero game in almost 15 years. What Insomniac and Sony achieved with this game is absolutely incredible. Another game that surpassed all expectations.”

Did you play Marvel’s Spider-Man? Were you one of the reasons this video game swung into the high sales charts? Or did you choose to pass on this one? Hit us up in the comments below and tell us why or why not! We want to hear from you!

The video game has been released worldwide since the beginning of September now, and it seems as if developer Insomniac Games is always adding new suits to the wide-spanning roster that is available for players to choose from. These new suits are typically available to unlock with purchases of the new downloadable content packages. The new “Silver Lining” DLC pack includes the new suit featured in Into the Spider-Verse, another movie tie-in. Fans have also been asking the developers if they would include the “Venom” or “Symbiote” suit in Spider-Man, and, if Insomniac Games still have more surprises up their sleeve like today’s, maybe that request is not too far fetched.

Spider-Man is now available on the PlayStation 4.
