Warner Bros. reportedly wanted to start shooting The Batman this November and it seems that things are moving along nicely behind the scenes as the project is indeed gearing up to begin production around that time. During an impromptu Q&A on Twitter, The Batman director Matt Reeves said that it’s looking like his DC Comics movie will begin filming “sometime around year’s end.”
Former Bruce Wayne Ben Affleck was originally set to write and direct The Batman. He eventually stepped down and handed the duties to Matt Reeves, who’s been attached to the movie since February 2017. A search is underway for an actor to replace Affleck as the Caped Crusader.
Plot details for the DC Films project are currently under wraps. It’s said to revolve around a young Bruce Wayne and Matt Reeves has previously confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films. The list also includes a Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Suicide Squad 2, Nightwing, Supergirl, Plastic Man and New Gods.
The Batman is set to open in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the project.
