Warner Bros. and DC’s next project about the Caped Crusader has long been referred to as The Batman, but a recent production sheet labeled the movie as “Untitled Batman Project.” In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves was asked if his Batman movie has a title. Here’s his answer:
“(Laughs.) Right now it’s called The Batman. What it will be called ultimately, I don’t know.”
Ben Affleck was originally set to write and direct The Batman. He eventually stepped down and handed the duties to Matt Reeves, who’s been attached to the project since February 2017. During the interview, Reeves also mentioned that the project could hit theaters in 2021.
Plot details for the project are currently under wraps. The film is said to revolve around a young Batman and Matt Reeves has previously confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.
The Batman is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films. The list also includes a Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Suicide Squad 2, Nightwing, Supergirl, Plastic Man and New Gods.
