Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ Expected To Focus On A Young Caped Crusader

Ben Affleck's future as Batman is still up in the air, but new details regarding the character's next cinematic solo outing have surfaced online.

Ben Affleck’s future as Batman in the DC Extended Universe is still up in the air, but new details regarding the character’s next cinematic solo outing have surfaced online.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matt Reeves turned in the first act of his screenplay for The Batman during the Memorial Day weekend and it’s said to focus on a young Caped Crusader. The trade adds that it’s “unlikely” that Affleck would be back as Batman, but as mentioned in the piece, Warner Bros. would not comment on the report.

Affleck made his debut as the Caped Crusader in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and then reprised the role in last year’s Justice League. He was initially set to write and direct The Batman before Matt Reeves took over and decided to start from scratch with the project. The fact that Reeves is writing his movie with a young Bruce Wayne in mind is another signal that Affleck is done with the role, though that’s yet to be officially confirmed.

The Batman is one of the many DC Films projects currently being developed by Warner Brothers. The list also includes The FlashThe New GodsMan of Steel 2NightwingCyborgBirds of PreyBlack AdamBooster GoldJustice League DarkGreen Lantern Corps, Suicide Squad 2BatgirlBlackhawk and a standalone Joker origin film separate from the shared cinematic universe.

Make sure to keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood as more details on this project come out.
