After Ben Affleck’s departure was finally confirmed, speculation ran rampant on who will be portray the young dark knight in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film. Names like Armie Hammer, Rami Malek, Kit Harrington, and others have been floated around by fans. According to Variety’s Justin Kroll, Warner Bros. wants a “familiar face” as the next Batman and Matt Reeves has a specific age in mind.
In the past, Warner Bros. has cast a well-known actor in the role and it seems that will continue with Matt Reeves’ film. Christian Bale was in his early 30s when he donned the cape and cowl in Batman Begins, but rumors point to Matt Reeves’ wanting someone in their early 20s.

A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
