Kingsman: The Secret Service helmer Matthew Vaughn is reportedly WB's top choice to direct the Man of Steel sequel that's in active development.
Now, Collider reports that Kingsman: The Secret Service helmer Matthew Vaughn is WB’s top choice to direct the Man of Steel sequel. The site adds that ” preliminary conversations” have taken place and that the studio would still want him to take the reins of another DC Films project if this doesn’t work out. It’s also worth noting that Collider cautions that Vaughn isn’t even in talks yet, so this could very well not happen.
With projects such as Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class under his belt, Vaughn has definitely proven that he’s a great choice to direct a Superman movie. Back in 2010, Vaughn mentioned that he had a quick chat with WB about a Superman pitch with Mark Millar, but that clearly didn’t lead into anything. He also said the following:
“I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious ‘The Dark Knight’ version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.”
These comments are obviously quite old, but this definitely sounds like the kind of Superman movie WB would want after the reception to Man of Steel and last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Nothing has been officially confirmed so far, so this should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being, but we’ll keep you updated.
