Matthew Vaughn Wants To Direct Marvel Studios’ ‘Fantastic Four’ Film

Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn expressed an interest in helming Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four film.

With Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox now complete, Marvel Studios has gained the screen rights to fan-favorite characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four. While details on what Marvel Studios has planned for the Fantastic Four are currently under wraps, Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn revealed that he would be excited if given the chance to helm the film.

During an interview with ComicBook.com at New York Comic-Con, Matthew Vaughn revealed that a Fantastic Four film is the project that would excite him the most. Furthermore, Matthew Vaughn explained why he believes the Fantastic Four could be as big a Spider-Man:

Yeah I’ve always loved the idea of doing Fantastic Four as it was originally written. I mean it’s one of my favorite comics and I actually think that Fantastic Four, as a nice piece of IP, is in theory as big as Spider-Man. I think those, the values of Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, I think those are the reason, if you’re a kid, you can imagine being a part of the Fantastic Four family and you can imagine being Peter Parker. So yeah, I think Fan-Four would be the one that would excite me the most.”

Matthew Vaughn previously directed comic-book adaptations such as Kingsman, Kick-Ass, and X-Men: First Class. Next up from Matthew Vaughn is a Kingsman prequel titled The King’s Man, which is scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2020.
