Christopher McQuarrie, director of the upcoming 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' explains why the sixth entry in the franchise has this title.
McQuarrie spoke with Empire about why the film is called Fallout, and if his comments are any indication of what to expect from this action-packed adventure, audiences are in for yet another treat from McQuarrie and Tom Cruise:
“The title has multiple meanings in the film, from the literal to the figurative. There is the threat of nuclear terrorism hanging over the movie, which is the literal threat… There’s the notion that what’s happened in the movie is the end result of choices that Ethan Hunt has made in his life. It’s Ethan’s past come back to haunt him. It’s the fallout of all his good intentions.”
It looks like Ethan will have to deal with the repercussions of his previous adventures. Perhaps the Fallout is indicative of the inevitable consequences of his actions.
Here’s the synopsis for Mission: Impossible – Fallout:
“The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.”
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – Fallout also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, Sean Harris, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Cavill, Sian Brooke, Frederick Schmidt and Angela Bassett
Mission: Impossible – Fallout hits theaters on July 27, 2018. Keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood as more details on this project come out.
