‘Metal Gear Solid’ Film Director Receives Advice From Hideo Kojima

'Metal Gear Solid' movie director Jordan Vogt-Roberts received advice from video game series creator Hideo Kojima during a discussion at E3.

With string and box office and critical misfires over the past few years, adapting video games into feature films has proven to be a difficult task for Hollywood. Now, Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts will attempt to break the trend with a film adaptation of the Metal Gear Solid video game series. While word on the project has been quiet lately, Vogt-Roberts recently participated in a panel on the E3 Coliseum stage with Hideo Kojima, where the filmmaker asked the series creator for advice on adapting the game for the big screen.

Kojima offered short but fairly straight-forward words of wisdom to Vogt-Roberts:

“Do the same thing as me, betray your audience.”

It seems as though Kojima is suggesting Vogt-Roberts remain true to his own vision for the project and to not be beholden to fan wishes.

While there are currently no details on the film’s plot, the first game in the series focused on special forces operative Solid Snake and his mission to find the superweapon called “Metal Gear.”

Are you excited to see Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ take on the Metal Gear Solid series? Do you agree with Kojima’s advice? Share your thoughts below!

Metal Gear Solid is currently in development and does not have a release date. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the project!
