Michael B Jordan has already come out and said that he would really enjoy taking on the role of Superman. Although he wouldn’t want to be cast Clark Kent. Instead, he’d like to portray Calvin Ellis. This version of Superman hails from Earth 23 and is actually a Kryptonian named Kalel, similar to Clark Kent’s Kal-El. Ellis is also President of the United States in Earth 23 so it’s heavily speculated that this Superman version was based on former US President Barack Obama.
Salman Artworks, a digital Instagram artist, used Michael B Jordan and Henry Cavill’s DCEU suit to create an incredible mash-up and give us just an idea of how the former Human Torch may look as Superman:
Would you like to see Michael B Jordan interpret Calvin Ellis in a future DCEU film as Superman? Would Michael B Jordan be your first pick to bring this version of Superman to the big screen? Sound off in the comment section down below!
Aquaman, the DCEU’s latest movie, is now playing theaters. Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director, James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.
Following Aquaman, which is now playing, the DCEU continues in April with Shazam! on April 5, 2019, which will be followed by Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
Supergirl is one of the many projects being developed over at Warner Bros. and DC. The studio has tasked Oren Uziel to pen the script. Meanwhile, Superman is still rumored to cameo in Shazam!, but it’s unclear if it will be Henry Cavill. Here is the synopsis for DC’s next film:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, DC Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Ron Cephas.
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
