Michael Giacchino Has Finished His ‘The Batman’ Theme For Matt Reeves

Composer Michael Giacchino revealed that he has already completed his theme for Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Over the weekend, fans learned that composer Michael Giacchino will write the score for Matt Reeves’ The Batman after the filmmaker accepted the director’s offer in front of a crowd at the Royal Albert Hall. Of course, Michael Giacchino is far from the first composer to lend his musical talents to the Batman franchise and fans are curious to hear what the maestro has in store of Matt Reeves’ new interpretation of the Dark Knight.

During an interview with WMMR Rocks!, Michael Giacchino commented on the news of him re-teaming with Matt Reeves for The Batman. In fact, Michael Giacchino revealed that he has already finished his theme for The Batman and that Matt Reeves will use to inspire through the various stages of production:

“I’ve already written what will be theme for the movie, because I was so excited about doing it that I just sat down and did it, already. And so, Matt has that in his back pocket right now and is using it just to inspire him as he finishes writing and doing the things he has to do to prepare for directing.”

The Batman marks the fifth collaboration between Matt Reeves and Michael Giacchino, who previously worked together on CloverfieldLet Me In, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War for the Planet of the Apes. Michael Giacchino’s additional credits include Super 8, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Incredibles 2, Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Full plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. Westworld star Jeffrey Wright was recently reported to be in talks for the role of Commissioner James Gordon.

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
