There was a recent rumor spreading around the internet on Tuesday claiming Doctor Strange and Spider-Man: Homecoming composer Michael Giacchino replaced Captain Marvel composer Pinar Toprak on the project. The rumor went on to say that directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck were unhappy with Pinar Toprak’s score, so they brought in Marvel Studios veteran Michael Giacchino to rewrite it. Pinar Toprak composed Krypton prior to landing the Captain Marvel gig and became the first female to compose a superhero film.
This wouldn’t have been the first time Michael Giacchino stepped in on a big blockbuster. Michael Giacchino replaced Alexandre Desplat on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and only had four weeks to compose it. However, Michael Giacchino addressed the rumors on Twitter and says he didn’t compose the latest Marvel Studios film:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes.
