In a new report from Deadline that notes the amount of views that the new Sony/Marvel Studios teaser trailer received, it’s also mentioned that both Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes and Laura Harrier’s Liz Toomes will be reprising their roles from Spider-Man: Homecoming.
We last saw Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes incarcerated at the end of Homecoming, with him not giving away Spider-Man’s identity. After all, Peter did save Liz in the movie. While the focus of Far From Home looks to be Peter’s battle with Mysterio, it remains to be seen how both Adrian and Liz will factor into the plot. Perhaps Liz will simply be one of the students on the trip and Adrian will appear in another post-credits scene that further sets up the eventual Sinister Six film.
No way to know for sure, and who is to say that Toomes won’t escape prison? Comic book villains aren’t exactly known for staying put when they’re incarcerated, after all. So how do you think the return of Laura Harrier and Michael Keaton coming back from Homecoming will factor into Far From Home? Do you hope to see either or both of them have a prominent role? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Meanwhile, here’s the synopsis for Far From Home:
“Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!”
Spider-Man: Far From Home is directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Micheal Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Laura Harrier, Zach Barack, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori, Numan Acar, J. B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii and Hemky Madera.
The film will swing into theaters on July 5, 2019.
