'The Walking Dead' or 'Guardians of the Galaxy'? Michael Rooker weighs in on which character he prefers to portray. Merle or Yondu?
Michael Rooker appeared onstage at a panel at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest this weekend. The actor, who plays Merle Dixon on The Walking Dead and Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy was asked which character he thinks is more fun to play.
“Merle was okay. Yondu was okay. Yondu paid more money. I have a lot more fun playing Yondu. And I didn’t have to dodge rattlesnakes and pick ticks off my body but there’s just something out of being a guy with a knife as a hand… The first time I tried on the hand, I was putting on my jacket…I stabbed the wardrobe guy in the belly. It didn’t go in or anything but it was like poking the Pillsbury Doughboy.”
Maybe it’s also the blue face paint? But it is clear that Michael Rooker seems to have had more fun playing Yondu because Guardians of the Galaxy. Perhaps it was because the film had more of a lighter atmosphere in comparison to the zombie-riddled The Walking Dead.
Which character of Michael Rooker’s do you prefer? Let us know in the comments!
