Supergirl‘s Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) has earned the approval of Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum.
Lex Luthor has yet to join The CW’s Arrowverse, but he’s on his way and he will, of course, make his debut on Supergirl. The iconic villain will be played by Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer and although it seems like an out-of-left-field casting choice, Cryer has earned the approval of at least one previous Lex Luthor actor.
Long before The CW’s Arrowverse, Smallville was a massive success on television and one of the fan favorite actors from that show was Michael Rosenbaum. His Lex Luthor opposite Tom Welling’s Clark Kent was a fresh take on the duo that gave fans the oppurtunity to see their relationship evolve over several seasons. Rosenbaum took to Twitter to show his support for Cryer’s casting. Check out the Tweet from the Smallville star below.
Although this will be Luthor’s first time on TV in quite some time, the villain has shown up in various forms over the years. Recently, the character has been portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg on the big screen in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as well as a cameo in 2017’s Justice League. The Office‘s Rainn Wilson also lent his voice to the character in this year’s animated adaptation of The Death of Superman, a role that Wilson will be reprising in next year’s follow-up Reign of the Supermen.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Lex Luthor’s arrival on Supergirl as soon as more information becomes available. What are your thoughts on Cryer’s casting?
