Rosenbaum replied to a SyFy Wire tweet about Henry Cavill’s potential departure from the Superman role, where he humorously expressed hope in Eisenberg leaving too:
Rosenbaum played Lex Luthor in The CW’s Smallville throughout its entire run. On that series, the relationship between Luthor and Clark Kent (Tom Welling) is portrayed as a friendship that eventually decayed into the famous rivalry as known in the DC Comics.
Eisenberg has portrayed an interesting take on Lex Luthor in both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and in a brief appearance in the post-credits scene for Justice League. The Academy Award-nominated actor’s portrayal of the character in the former has been subject to extremely polarizing reception from critics and audiences alike. Some praised Eisenberg for the bold decisions he made in playing the character while others have panned his portrayal as too goofy and off-the-wall for a film as dark as Dawn of Justice.
Where would you rank both Rosenbaum and Eisenberg’s versions of Lex Luthor in comparison to the likes of John Shea, Lyle Talbot, Gene Hackman and err… Kevin Spacey?
