Mike Colter Took A Bat To The Face When Filming ‘Luke Cage’

Luke Cage stars Mike Colter and Simone Missick are set to appear in AMC’s Geeking Out tonight, joining hosts Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg. While on the show, Colter revealed that some of the stunts went a little too far.

Let’s add a bit of context to this: Colter plays a character with an unreal amount of strength and impenetrable skin, so you can imagine some of the action that is going to take place when Season 1 of the show debuts on September 30th. Luke Cage would laugh off the idea of being on the receiving end of a baseball bat, but Colter certainly didn’t. When a stunt baseball was used on set, it was designed to break apart upon impact, but one of the broken pieces actually struck him on the head. What happened after could only be described as “complete numbness”!

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Marvel’s Luke Cage will be released exclusively on Netflix.
