Mindy Kaling Has Talked About A ‘Ms. Marvel’ Project With Marvel

During an interview with MTV News, Mindy Kaling revealed she has been in contact with Marvel about a project centered on Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel.

While Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce plans for the fourth phase of their cinematic universe, a number of fans are hoping Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel will be among the newcomers to make her MCU debut in the future. Those fans may have a reason to be optimistic about seeing Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in the MCU as Mindy Kaling revealed she’s been in contact with Marvel about a project centered on the company’s first Muslim hero:

“I think the people I’ve spoken to Marvel about it are so excited about the character and I think that they’re trying to figure out what to do with it. I told them I would help in any way because I truly love her. They really seemed interested, and I think they will probably do something.”

Mindy Kaling added that the upcoming Disney+ streaming service could be a potential venue for Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel live-action screen debut:

“Now that there’s like this streaming service with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much there is the excitement.”

In the comics, Kamala Khan takes up the Ms. Marvel mantle after her idol, Carol Danvers, becomes Captain Marvel.  The teenage Pakistani American from Jersey City, New Jersey discovers that she has Inhuman genes and uses her shapeshifting abilities to protect her local community.
