Jason Momoa On Henry Cavill & Ben Affleck Leaving Batman & Superman Roles

The Aquaman star speaks on rumors of Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck leaving their Batman and Superman roles.

The star of the highly anticipated upcoming superhero blockbuster Aquaman, Jason Momoa, has shared his thoughts on actors Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill reporting leaving the DC Extended Universe and hanging up their capes. In the film franchise, Affleck portrays Bruce Wayne / Batman and Cavill portrays Clark Kent / Superman, respectively.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Momoa shared his thoughts on the two actors leaving their Batman and Superman roles, saying:

If they’re both out, then listen: It’s just the place they’re at in their careers. I mean, how many has Henry done? He’s done three? Yeah, I mean, like, you want to move on. I think if I did… shit, I have done three.”

Momoa seems to recognize that Affleck and Cavill may just simply be growing tired of their roles of Batman and Superman as they have portrayed them for several films now, with Cavill appearing in three. Even though none of the two actors have officially come out and announced their departure from the film franchise, it is beginning to seem ever more likely that it is unfortunately the case.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Aquaman will be released in theaters on December 21, 2018.
