‘Captain Marvel’ Theory Explains How Monica Rambeau Becomes Ironheart

According to an intriguing Captain Marvel fan theory, Monica Rambeau (Akira Akbar) might become the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next Iron Man, called Ironheart.

Captain Marvel features quite a few characters that could return in the MCU at some point but since Marvel’s post-Spider-Man: Far From Home release slate remains a mystery, it’s hard to tell who could actually return after the events of Avengers: Endgame. One standout duo from Captain Marvel was Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) and her daughter Monica Rambeau, played by Akira Akbar.

Akira Akbar’s Monica Rambeau only had a brief appearance in Captain Marvel, causing many fans to theorize how she could appear later down the line, after Avengers: Endgame, as the hero Photon. Obviously, it most likely won’t be Akira Akbar reprising role given that Captain Marvel takes place in 1995 but an interesting theory recently popped up on Reddit from username Brettish regarding Monica Rambeau’s future. It reveals that she could plausibly become Ironheart instead of Photon. Check out the fan theory in the post below.

Ironheart is a character who debuted as a protege to Iron Man in 2016. Ironheart isn’t Monica Rambeau in the comics though. Instead, Ironheart’s true identity is Riri Williams. The character has yet to appear in the MCU in any form but fans have theorized since her comics debut three years ago that she could eventually take the iron mantle from Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Captain Marvel and the possible return of Monica Rambeau as Ironheart in the MCU as soon as more information becomes available. Do you think this theory regarding Akira Akbar’s character makes sense? Would you rather see Monica Rambeau return as Photon or Ironheart at some point in the next MCU phases? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel is playing in theaters now!
