Mortal Kombat Director Teases ‘Next Masterpiece’ From Batman Arkham Developer Rocksteady

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon teased the “next masterpiece” from Rocksteady, the video game developer best known for the Batman: Arkham series.

The latest Batman: Arkham video game by Rocksteady Studios was released nearly four years ago and since then fans have only seen Batman: Arkham VR from the video game developer. While a video game titled Batman: Arkham Crisis was once rumored to the next project from Rocksteady Studios, the video game developer has not divulged details on their next release despite fans eagerly awaiting an announcement. Among those looking forward to what Rocksteady has planned is Ed Boon, the man who created Mortal Kombat series with John Tobia.

In a post on his official Twitter account, the Mortal Kombat co-creator responded to Rocksteady Game director and co-founder Sefton Hill’s praise of Mortal Kombat 11 with the following message:

“We appreciate that Sefton, and can’t wait for you guys to reveal @RocksteadyGames next masterpiece!”

Unfortunately, there’s no telling if the Mortal Kombat creator knows what Rocksteady has planned or if he’s simply assuming the Batman: Arkham developers will have a project worthy of being called a masterpiece. While a new Batman game is not certain, the Caped Crusader will return to the big screen in a new film from director Matt Reeves. Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and includes multiple villains. Matt Reeves also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the film and all of Warner Bros. upcoming DC Films and television projects!

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
